MADHYA PRADESH Road Transport Corporation (MPRTC) divisional manager Joginder Singh has said that the pending lease rent amount for the Sarvate bus stand would be paid to Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) soon.

Singh said that IMC had served a legal notice asking for Rs 7 lakh as rent plus arrears pending from past some time. The rent payment had gone into arrears due to the bad financial condition of the corporation.

Evidently, MPRTC, earlier known as Madhya Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (MPSRTC) before being dismantled to the position of a unit, was only functional in name, as it was proving to be a white elephant for the State Government. The Corporation was functioning under heavy losses and eventually the drastic step of opening chartered routes earlier earmarked for the State carrier to public entities was taken during the Chief Ministership of Babulal Gaur.

Sarvate bus stand being the most important in the division was the flagship entity of the Corporation and in view of convenience of the large number of public, which uses it for travel, the place would not be surrendered. Official correspondence to
