Mudslides hit 200 families in Manipur

Mudslides have affected some 200 families in Manipur's Tamenglong district. District officials said 168 families of Tupul area and some 30 more scattered nearby were displaced in the past week. Rahul Karmakar reports.

Mudslides have affected some 200 families in Manipur's Tamenglong district.

District officials said 168 families of Tupul area and some 30 more scattered nearby were displaced in the past week. In addition, 116 hectares of paddy field were destroyed.

A series of mudslides was caused by the construction of the Jiri-Tupul railway line.

Detailed reports would be available after the officials who are now being engaged in conducting the survey return after two weeks.

There was no report of any casualty.
