National Games: Jung wins second gold

Melbourne Commonwealth Games hero Samresh Jung claimed his second gold medal of the 33rd National Games when he won the 10m air pistol event here on Wednesday.

Jung, representing Himachal Pradesh, aggregated 685 points to emerge ahead of Haryana's Deepak Sharma (673.7) and Punjab's Amanpreet Singh Jhaam 672.8).

Jung, who won five gold medals at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, had earlier claimed the yellow metal in the 25m standard pistol event and a bronze in the 25m centre fire pistol event.

Himachal Pradesh added another yellow metal to its kitty when Sonia Rana won the women's 25m sport pistol event.

Sonia totalled 775.3 points to clinch gold with Uttar Pradesh bagging both the silver and bronze. Annu Raj Singh (771.5) was second ahead of teammate Sushma Singh (770.8).

In the men's double trap event, Mohammed Ashab of Chhattisgarh took the gold with a total of 157 points while Services picked up the other two medals through Himanshu (153) and Dil Bahadur Thapa (146).
