Organising chairman of the symposium Dr P C Manoria said the triple combination of diabetes, increased lipids in blood and coronary artery disease led to high risk of heart attacks including higher mortality on that count.

Dr Manoria further said a special session will take place during the symposium on a new magic pill Rimonabant, which has proved highly useful in controlling obesity and cessation of smoking.

The symposium will also discuss at length the utility of triple combination of aspirin, fibrinolytic agent and enoxaparin in opening the clogged arteries of heart patients. Results of the newly-released global trial TIMI Extract-25 will also be discussed.

Strategies for control of diabetes and increased lipids in blood will be detailed during the symposium. Several eminent speakers including Dr V Bahl (Delhi), Dr B S Pardiwala (Mumbai), Dr Pankaj (Ahmedabad) will deliver talks on different subjects related to the symposium.

Further information about the programme can be obtained from Dr Manoria (phone 242299) or Dr R K Shrivastava (phone 2734991).
