Excitement notwithstanding, Navratri’s arrival makes Natasha Sayani beam with joy. She said, “Come Navratri and we go on a shopping spree with family and friends. Then, we let our hair down when it comes to Dandia and make it a point to visit friends. So, how can religion or caste throw a spanner in the merrymaking.”
City-based businessman Michael Joseph said, “It may be a Hindu festival. But, we eagerly wait for its arrival. Along with my family, I go for shopping and enjoy Dandia, organised by our friends. Besides savouring the music and dance, we get the opportunity to meet people and make new friends.”
Mohammad Aslam added, “Navratri gives all a common platform to feel happy and enjoy.”
Tarun Sehgal who runs a shop in Naveen Market said, “During Navratri, one can see a high level of enthusiasm among Kanpurites. The festival helps to bridge the religious divide.”
