NC to act as a responsible Oppn: Omar

Describing the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) formulated by Congress, PDP, CPI-M and Panthers Party as "old wine in new bottle", Abdullah told 'Star News' that many of these issues had been pursued by the erstwhile NC government and several matters, including those relating to rehabilitation of people affected by militancy, were "already in place".

Participating in the TV discussion, Congress leader Kapil Sibal reacted to this saying "if Omar agrees that many of these things (in the CMP) are already in place, then his party should support the new government to pursue the NC agenda".

Abdullah hit out at the PDP saying it had gone back on its electoral promise of "disbanding" of Special Operation Group but only decided to reorient it, while Congress had betrayed the Jammu region with Ghulam Nabi Azad not accepting the Chief Minister's post.

However, he said "I am glad that they have finally managed to get their act together (to form government), which is good .... NC will play the role of a proper opposition".
