With the completion of this project the train passengers will no longer have to face hardships due to shortage of potable water during the summers.

Besides they will also find much cleaner platforms, trains and tracks.

This is the part of works sanctioned by the Railway Board for Allahabad Junction Railway station as well as Kanpur Central station for the convenience of the train passengers during summers, informed a highly placed source in the department associated with the project.

Besides supply of water for drinking purpose, arrangement will also be made for train/carriage watering, washing of carriages on washing lines and apron and platform washing, said the sources.

For this purpose, five overhead tanks of one lakh gallon capacity each have been sanctioned. Out of these five overhead tanks, three will be installed at Allahabad Junction Railway station while two at Kanpur Central station.

Besides, there will be three overhead tanks of 25,000 gallon capacity each to be installed at Allahabad Junction Railway station.

"With this arrangement, not only water capacity will increase but there will be segregation in supply of water thereby avoiding shortage of water either for drinking or for cleaning purposes", said the sources.

Railway Board has sanctioned Rs 3.20 crore for the work and the facility will be provided before the onset of next summer season, said the sources.
