Need for consumer awareness stressed

STRESSING THE need for consumer awareness, Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supply Sudhir Kumar today said, India could join the league of developed countries only after the consumers were aware of their rights. He urged all the consumer bodies to cerate an awareness among the consumers.

STRESSING THE need for consumer awareness, Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supply Sudhir Kumar today said, India could join the league of developed countries only after the consumers were aware of their rights. He urged all the consumer bodies to cerate an awareness among the consumers.

He was inaugurating a seminar on “Consumer, health, and security” organised by UP State Consumer Grievance Redressal Commission in cooperation with the Marketing and Inspection Directorate, Government of India, here today. Kumar laid emphasis on the need for all the government and non-government organisations to work unitedly for consumer rights and interests.

Speaking on the occasion, special guest and KGMU vice-chancellor Mahendra Bhandari, likened medical service with an art and appealed to the intellectuals not to make in mathematics. He said unlike in mathematics, one cannot know the cent per cent output in the medical field, though the he stressed the need for treating a patient with full dedication. Commission chairman Palok Basu expressed concern over lack of quality in services being rendered by various government and non-government bodies.

He also underlined the need of consumer awareness.
