Inaugurating the 5th annual conference of the UP and Uttaranchal Diabetes Association (UPDACON-06) at the CSJMU Auditorium here on Saturday, Dr Sahani said that often people got worried over the spread of seasonal diseases and pressurised government to put a check on such diseases. The same resulted in incurring of extra expenditure other than the allocated budget for the seasonal diseases while neglecting formulation of a well-defined strategy to face the silent but deadly diseases like diabetes.
Dr Sahani said that it was high time that the medical research scholars and the physicians should come forward and create awareness at a greater level about the diseases, which stayed with the patients till death. She warned that the diabetes had grown extensively and it was going to become a “monstrous disease” in the near future as per the surveys conducted by the health organisations’ of the World. Consequently, all energy should be diverted to protect the future generation.
President of the UPDACON Colonel MK Garg said that as per the recent census, population of the country would be 1.1 billion by the end of 2006.
Seminar held :Director of the Diabetes Control Association Abdul Hamid Jargal said that diabetes was a nationwide problem and much attention should be given to it. He was addressing a seminar here on Saturday. He said the disease could affect kidney, heart and even nervous system of the patient.
