Zoramthanga, who was unanimously elected leader of the MNF legislature party, submitted the resignation of his council of ministers to Kohli on Tuesday night who in turn asked the former to continue and also invited him to form a new government.

The MNF retained power after securing a simple majority of 21 seats in the 40-member assembly polls held on November 20 while the Congress bagged 12 seats.

The Mizoram People's Conference (MPC) and Zoram Nationalist party (ZNP) combine could manage to get only four seats while one seat went to the Mara Democratic Front.

Zoramthanga said that the priorities of his government would be building infra-structure development, shifting of Assam Rifles from the heart of Aizawl City, pursue peace initiatives in the North east, maintenance of peace in the state and construction of a full-fledged stadium.
