Newborn found abandoned at Mulund station

A newborn boy, which was found abandoned on the railway tracks at Mulund station on Sunday, died on its way to the hospital.

Around 10.20 am, some commuters saw some movement inside a plastic bag lying on the tracks and alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel at the station.

The RPF handed it over to the stationmaster who in turn alerted the Government Railway Police posted at the station.

“We took the baby to Savarkar Municipal Hospital in Mulund (East) where it was declared brought dead,” said GJ Walvi, sub-inspector, Kurla railway police station. The body has been sent to Rajawadi hospital for post-mortem.
