NHPC net profit up by 18.17 per cent

NATIONAL HYDROELECTRIC Power Corporation Limited (NHPC) has earned a net profit after tax of Rs 124.07 crore as against Rs 92.27 crore during the corresponding period last year, as per unaudited financial results for the quarter ended December 31, 2005.

As per an official release today, the net profit after tax for the nine months ended December 31, 2005 has increased from Rs 430.58 crore (December 31, 2004) to Rs 508.82 crore registering an increase of 18.17 per cent. The gross sales of the Corporation for the nine months ended December 31, 2005 has increased from Rs 1,325.65 crore (December 31, 2004) to Rs 1,526.40 crore thereby registering an increase of 15.14 per cent.

The increase in sales is mainly because of commissioning of the Dhauliganga power station, the release added.
