The NHRC's notice came following a complaint filed by an Ahmebdabad-based NGO, Prashant -- A Centre for Human Rights, Justice and Peace.

The Commission asked the Chief Secretary to submit the report on the violence against Christians in Mangalore and surrounding areas.

The NGO has alleged that the local administration seemed to be hand in glove with the perpetrators of violence against the Christian community, an NHRC release said.
