Nicholas Cage shows support for single dads with The Knowing
The Oscar winner, whose a single dad himself to 18-year-old son Weston, was determined to show men can raise kids as well as women, and wanted to make the film to balance out with the films about single moms.
Hollywood actor Nicholas Cage hopes to debunk the ''myth'' that single fathers can't raise kids with his new flick The Knowing.
The Oscar winner, whose a single dad himself to 18-year-old son Weston, was determined to show men can raise kids as well as women, and wanted to make the film to balance out with the films about single moms.
In the film, Cage plays a widower whose young son discovers a document detailing every major disaster that has happened, and three that have yet to take place.
"I have seen a lot of movies with single mothers and their children. They're good, but there are not so many with capable single fathers,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.
“There seems to be this archetype that if you're a man and single, you're incapable of raising a child, which I think needs to be broken. If you find yourself in that position - like I have - it's important not to give up because of what people tell you," he added.
