No entry with pencil, BMC zonal, ward officers told

ZONAL AND ward officers of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), engaged in revenue collections, were told not to make any entry in with pencil in posting register. The directive to this effect was issued after the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) authorities came across irregularities in entries by making changes in posting register.

Making entries with pencil has been a routine affair for the BMC officials posted at the zonal and ward offices. Besides, there were reports that officials and employees offer to reduce big bill amounts of taxpayers apparently in exchange for favours.

Sources said a certain section opposed the issuance of computerised bills due to this reason. Even after spending a huge amount, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) could not issue computerised property tax bills in the City.
