The decision in this regard was taken at an important AU Admission Committee meeting. The committee also decided to conduct the admission according to the new ordinances under the University of Allahabad Act-2005 and provide reservations as per the directives of the Central Government.
The committee also decided to undertake admission as per the norms set by University Grants Commission (UGC).
Decision to terminate additional classes was also taken and as a result only 2,390 seats in BA, 680 in BSc and 375 in BCom will be available at the varsity.
The decisions which could also effect the constituent colleges could result in as many as 10,000 students not getting admission.
The committee decided to follow the Central Government's directive for the reservations.
The admission committee decided to form a sub-committee to give opinion on inter-disciplinary courses, five-year integrated Law course, academic re-establishment, spreading the knowledge of English among students, induction of sociology as a subject and to develop new courses in the field of bio-technology.
The AU VC would select the members of the academic committee.
