No outsiders after 5 pm: LMC

Last week, some LMC officials were also roughed up by visitors. In fact, there have been several incidents of minor violence at the LMC after office hours. “We have taken the step after the directives by the Municipal Commissioner,” said Kumar, on Friday. He, himself, got two visitors to leave after 5 pm. “We can’t compromise with the security of the office and its workers. We have been receiving a lot of complaints about unscrupulous elements inside the LMC premises,” said Kumar. Municipal Commissioner Ram Bodh Maurya has also directed that contractors should not be allowed into the LMC premises after office hours. Sources say, contractors usually visit the LMC after office !

Meanwhile, in another incident on Friday, the LMC squad, on directives of Chief Veterinary Officer AP Singh, caught Satish Chandra selling meat in the restricted area. The High Court had, recently, banned the slaughtering of animals inside city limits following a writ petition.
