Authorities concerned have decided to impose heavy fines and even prosecute repeated offenders resulting in their imprisonment to maintain the specified zones vehicle free.
To ensure proper implementation of their orders, the railway officials have prepared a master plan clearly outlining the areas for parking of the vehicles as well as the no-parking zones on both the sides of the station: Civil Lines and City side, informed a senior railway officer closely associated with the project.
The NCR officials have also decided to earmark parking sites on the Smith Road adjacent to railway station for the benefit of the visitors.
Insiders claim that for proper execution of the plan noted architects are also being engaged who will be guiding as to where the parking zones should be set up keeping the station lay-out in mind.
"We are focusing on circulating area as well with the aim of regulating free movement of traffic at the station", said the senior officer.
He expressed hope that with the implementation of the new master plan and setting up of additional parking zones there will be a marked improvement in the flow of the vehicles as train passengers and visitors both will be made to park their vehicles in these designated zones instead of parking their vehicles haphazardly, he added.
Sources informed that efforts are also being made to complete the work before the end of the current financial year.
Besides Allahabad the master plan will be implemented at Kanpur, Mirzapur, Etawah and Aligarh stations too as they are considered the main stations under the Allahabad division.
When contacted, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, RPF, Sunil Kumar Singh said, "RPF personnel will take action against those who disobey instructions of railway authorities regarding parking of vehicles. Instructions will be issued to the personnel as soon as the new set-up starts functioning."
He informed that the offenders will be booked under section 159 of Railways Act, which can result in an offender being imprisoned for upto a term which may extend to one month or being fined to the tune of Rs 500 or even both.
