No tie-up with BSP: Cong
STATE CONGRESS president Salman Khurshid on Monday categorically denied any alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) or any other political party in the forthcoming State Assembly elections. ?The Congress will go it alone in the polls as party workers see Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will launch an intensive campaign to revive the party in the state and it will come to power,? he said. Delivering his views at Maharajganj, Khursheed said the Congress would provide more seats to youths this time.

“The Congress will go it alone in the polls as party workers see Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will launch an intensive campaign to revive the party in the state and it will come to power,” he said.
Delivering his views at Maharajganj, Khursheed said the Congress would provide more seats to youths this time. Quoting the instance of major reshuffle in the party, he said the young generation had been given the leadership and a desirable result would be expected in the coming Assembly elections.
Continuing his offensive against the SP-led State Government, Khursheed said the Congress would release its election manifesto. He said the State Government was not a popular government. It came to power with the support of the Congress. “We have supported it to keep the communal forces away from power,” he said.
Highlighting the decision of the UPA government, he said for the first time any government provided power to the common man in the form of the Rights to Information Act (RTIA) . He further said that implementation of mid-day meal, National Rural Job Guarantee Scheme and Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme had been started by the Centre but the State Government was creating hindrance while implementing these schemes.
The UPCC president said unemployment allowance was not the remedy of unemployment and it would create more problems instead. He claimed that the Congress had introduced rural electrification scheme and it would provide the electricity to the people by increasing power generation. He exhorted the members of both the communities to maintain harmony and said communal forces were trying to divide society in the name of religion as they had realised that the Congress would come to power if the attention of the people would not be diverted.
Earlier, party activists welcomed the UPCC president at Sahjanwa, Sihapar and Transport Nagar in Gorakhpur. AICC members Dr Syed Jamal, Chaudhary Irshad Husain, Rais Ahmad Khan, Ganesh Mishra, Akhtar Ali Raini, Kusum Pandey, Ashok Singh, Aslam Parvez and others welcomed Khursheed.
