They also confessed that they used to collect money from lower- government officials for managing transfer and postings of their choice. Talking to the HT Lucknow Live, CO Chowk Sahni said more would be divulged by the five youths once they are interrogated during police remand. The court has to decide on the appeal by the police seeking remand of the five accused on Thursday, the CO said.
The investigating officer (IO) in the case SS Solanki, the station officer of Wazirganj police station, on Wednesday, served the notice for the hearing on the remand petition in the court on the accused. On the other hand, the cops have yet to corroborate if the accused were genuine owners of the jeep which they used to ‘torture the CO’ on May 30. Solanki had quizzed the youths in the district jail barrack on Tuesday and they claimed to have purchased the vehicle from a garage in Mahanagar about eight years back.
The cops further corroborated the statement to find that the jeep was last sold by Kafeel Ahmed of Barabanki. The police tried to contact Kafeel but he was not available at the place as the latter was employed as a chef in Dubai for last few years. The police now were trying to trace the garage from where the youths claimed that the jeep was purchased.
If the cops get the remand of five brothers they would be taken to the garage in Mahanagar and then only the details about the ownership of the jeep would be confirmed.
CO Sahni said that the documents showed that Kafeel had sold the vehicle to one Shobha Rani of Shekhupura Colony, Vikas Nagar. The youths claimed that it was their mother’s name. But, when the address was verified the cops
found some other person living at the place. The person feign ignorance if any woman in Shobha Rani’s name ever lived at the place.
On the other hand, the CO said, the youths still claim that they used to live at the same address. The cops were waiting for the police remand to retrieve all such details from the youths, CO Sahni said.
