The city police on Saturday lodged an FIR against the owner of Golf View, an upscale hotel in Sector 37, for allegedly constructing the building on government land.
"The Noida authority has sent a letter saying the hotel is built on government land. After corroborating the authority's claim with that of the land records available with Dadri tehsil, it has been found that the land belongs to Chhalera Banger village," said MKS Sundaram, district magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar.
"We will issue a notice to the hotel on Sunday, and after 24 hours, the hotel will be sealed. I have written to the SSP to lodge an FIR in the case," Sundaram said.
"An FIR has been registered against Devender Kumar Gangal, the owner of the hotel, at Sector 49 police station for trespassing on government land, cheating and constructing a building illegally," said Praveen Kumar, senior superintendent of police, Gautam Budh Nagar.
Naveen Sharma, sales manager, Golf View hotel, however, feigned ignorance about the government's action.
"The hotel is doing business as usual. We have advance bookings. So far, we have no information about an FIR being lodged against the hotel."
Noida authority officials said that they had carried out an inquiry into the case after receiving orders from Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
