During the meeting, the Norwegian Minister extended best wishes to the Nepalese people in their success in restoring democracy and pledged to continue economic assistance to the Himalayan Kingdom, officials said.

Norway, one of the major donor countries of Nepal, had halted economic assistance following the Royal takeover in February 2005.

Solheim also expressed desire to help Nepal in the post-conflict scenario. The Norwegian Minister said Norway is ready to help in Nepal's peace process if it so desires.
