Set Max has conceived a contest called Sabse Bada Deewana — of movies of course — across six cities and has very aptly selected Sajid Khan to meet the contestants and choose the big movie buff.

Khan is the right choice we say because he really knows his movies well. And if you think he watches only the big banner movies then let’s tell you he’s watched even the crappiest ones with the same gusto.

Years ago, one remembers having met Khan when he was hosting Ikke Pe Ikka, a film based show and was absolutely bowled over by his knowledge of films and film trivia.

The channel will give away home theatre systems to the six finalists (chosen from the 6 cities) while the Sabse Bada Deewana will get tickets for all Hindi movie releases for the next five years.

He then proudly showed off his little home theatre which he said gave him the luxury of experiencing the magic of the big screen in the confines of his home.

Little wonder then, when he recently hosted a film quiz on a channel and the computer flashing the questions started behaving badly, Khan came up with the most interesting of Bollywood-related questions on the spur of the moment.

Coming back to Sabse Bada Deewana, Khan kick-started the ground activity in cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhopal, Jaipur, Surat and Lucknow yesterday where he will meet the aspiring deewanas and gauge the extent of their madness for the 70-mm magic.

“Mind you, we are not looking out for the craziest movie fan. We are looking for somebody who worships movies and and is a film purist. And since I am a complete film buff, I can easily sift the fake ones from the real deewanas. They just have to prove that their love for the movies is unquestionable.”

Given his passion for cinema, has he ever done a crazy thing? “No, simply because whatever I do or have done for the movies has not been crazy. It’s purely come out of my love for them and for those who make them. I am very serious about my movies and so I don’t think I can never mess around with them.

Whatever I do comes straight from my heart.” As an afterthought he says, “But yes I wear the same watch as the one worn by James Bond!” Winners’ booty
