The unique service will be implemented next month, DIG, Meerut range, JN Singh said on Wednesday.

Necessary steps are being taken to make the service successful, he said.

Singh said anybody can file his complaint or lodge a First Information Report by sending an SMS and need not have to be physically present at a police station to do so.

"This will help people save time and avoid hassles," said Singh, who was earlier DIG (Technical) at Lucknow.

He said depending on the success of the service in Meerut, the facility can be extended all over Uttar Pradesh.
