A Chinese obsession called Tawang has found its way into a sleazy mobile video clip.
Various organisation based in this northwestern district of Arunachal Pradesh have sought action against “those ruining the reputation” of Tawang and its Monpa inhabitants through a vulgar mobile video clip titled ‘Tawang Monpa Clip’.
The All Tawang Women’s Welfare Association, All Tawang District Students Union and an NGO named Yuva Arunachal on Sunday moved the Chief Minister’s Office to help track down Bhupen Kalita and Nancy Singha featuring in the pornographic clip. The video clip, they added, was being widely circulated across India.
“The boy is reportedly from Assam and the girl from Manipur, but the clip has been linked to Tawang and the Monpas to give us a bad name,” said a spokesman for Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu.
“The people of Tawang have condemned this act of putting our society to shame. There’s a lot of anger brewing here, and the government machinery across the country must step in” said Tsetan Chombey, general secretary of Yuva Arunachal.
Ironically, the anger over the sleazy video clip coincided with the conclusion of the inaugural ITBP Himveer Football Tournament at Tawang. It was aimed at “bridging the gap” between the locals and the armed forces, who outnumber the former in the strategic frontier district.
