Now, Varanasi gets a direct flight to Sharjah

In a bid to ensure direct air connectivity between Varanasi and Gulf countries, Air India Express, the budget arm of Air India, on Monday launched direct flights to Sharjah from the Lal Bahadur Shashtri International Airport.

In a bid to ensure direct air connectivity between Varanasi and Gulf countries, Air India Express, the budget arm of Air India, on Monday launched direct flights to Sharjah from the Lal Bahadur Shashtri International Airport.

Union civil aviation minister P Ashok Gajpathi Raju launched the Air India Express international flight from Varanasi to Sharjah by giving boarding pass to first passenger Shiv Kumar. He also inaugurated Air India Hub and Spoke flight from Varanasi to Delhi.

Raju said, “It is a momentous occasion for Varanasi, nearby areas and the expatriate Indian community in the UAE which will now have safe, convenient and affordable, direct air travel options.”

Rohit Nandan, CMD, Air India, said, “Air India Express currently operates 175 weekly flights, connecting 11 domestic airports, besides 12 destinations across the Middle East and South East Asia.Varanasi today (Monday) becomes the 12th domestic station of Air India Express.”

The non-stop flight will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
