Now, you can?t fake pollution certificates

It will now be difficult for vehicle owners to get pollution-under-control (PUC) certificates by faking emission readings in cahoots with pollution checking centres. In about a month's time at least 100 such centres will have computerised pollution checking machines with cameras mounted on them.

It will now be difficult for vehicle owners to get pollution-under-control (PUC) certificates by faking emission readings in cahoots with pollution checking centres. In about a month's time at least 100 such centres will have computerised pollution checking machines with cameras mounted on them.
The machines will photograph the vehicle while the emission is being recorded. The photo will be attached to the computerised PUC print-out, which will replace the hand-written certificate. All checking centres will have to install these machines by the end of the year. "We won't renew their licences if they don't abide by our decision," said Transport Commissioner Sindhushree Khullar.
