MADHYA PRADESH Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme has been named as per guidelines issued by Government of India and the provisions of the relevant Act. It is, therefore, not correct to say that the scheme has been named for some vested interest, said an official spokesperson here today.

Madhya Pradesh Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme has been chalked out under the provisions of section 4 (1) of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005. No scheme in the name of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme exists.

As per the provisions of the Act the State governments are responsible for chalking out the scheme to meet the objectives of the Act. Objective of the scheme prepared by the State Government is to provide employment as per the provisions of the Act through the scheme.

The scheme as been named as per clause 3.1 of chapter – one of the guidelines received from the Central Government under the Act. The guidelines say, “Each State Government shall formulate an Employment Guarantee scheme under Section 4 (1) of the Act. The Employment Guarantee Scheme so formulated will be called the State (Name of the State) Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme”.

Thus, the scheme has been named in conformation to the guidelines of the Union Government.sz
