Odisha: Hearing and speech-impaired woman raped

A 32-year-old hearing and speech impaired woman has allegedly been raped by a youth here, police said. The 19-year-old accused Pabitra Bal, was arrested and forwarded to judicial custody on Saturday.

The victim lodged a complaint yesterday accusing him of raping her in Badabaranga locality of Kendrapara Town, after which the police swung into action. The victim has been taken for a medical test.

Cases have been lodged against the accused under IPC sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation), Investigating Officer, Kendrapara police station, Mahesmita Panda, said.
