AN EXHIBITION of articles and herbal medicines manufactured from various forest produce was a highlight of the Van Panchayat that took place at the CM residence here on Tuesday.
1CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan intermingled freely with almost all participants at the Van Panchayat. He listened attentively to their problems, assuring them of necessary steps to redress them. Chouhan was seen interacting with participants even during lunch.
2Several participants who arrived clad in their colourful traditional tribal outfits were the centre of attraction for all.
3Tribal artistes from Dindori and Obaidullahganj enthralled participants with their foot-tapping music and dances at the beginning of the van panchayat.
4Herbal medicines for curing ailments like chikungunya, malaria and other diseases were on display.
5A machine for manufacturing rope from cloth tatters attracted everyone. Members of the forest committee from Gujarat’s Sakarjhiri village demonstrated the machine’s working.
6Participants from Seoni village displayed household articles manufactured from Seesal fibre. They informed the fibre grew on embankments on the sides of agricultural fields and articles like baskets, mirror frames, waste paper bins were manufactured from it.
7Members of village forest committee Devkhoh, Chhindwara displayed the process of manufacturing rope from grass.
8The Madhya Bharat lac manufacturers union showcased articles created from lac and also demonstrated the process of doing so.
9Women from the SHG Sukhtava, Matkuli displa-yed the process of creating silk yarn and thread.
