Oil Conservation Fortnight to be inaugurated today

WITH AN objective to creating awareness for conservation of oil and gas, the State-level Coordinator (Oil Industry) in association with Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) will hold Oil & Gas Conservation Fortnight-2006 from January 16 to 30.

WITH AN objective to creating awareness for conservation of oil and gas, the State-level Coordinator (Oil Industry) in association with Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) will hold Oil & Gas Conservation Fortnight-2006 from January 16 to 30.

All the four PSU oil marketing companies – Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum and IBP with GAIL India Ltd would join hands for the cause. The fortnight would formally be inaugurated at Samanvay Bhawan at 9 am on January 16.

State-level Coordinator (Oil Industry) the convener PS Venkateshwaran said due to increase in consumption of fuel vis-à-vis decreasing oil reserves, there has been a pressing need to conserve fuel energy. He said the oil companies would undertake promotional activities during the fortnight to create mass awareness on conservation of fuel.

He added during the fortnight, the companies would take special care to disseminate the message of conservation. Convener, PCRA, JP Mishra, said though the association carries out various activities round the year, it undertakes special initiatives during the fortnight. Apart from seminars and meetings, there would be street plays, painting competitions and other activities throughout the State, he said.

During the fortnight, there would also be a seminar on bio-diesel on January 24.
