London Olympic bronze medalist and five times national champion boxer MC Mary Kom, 30, gave birth to a baby boy at a private hospital in Hatta, Imphal, here on Tuesday.
Mary and her husband Onler already have six-year-old twin sons Rechungvar and Khupneivar.
“The baby weighs 3.81 kg and the delivery was normal. Both mother and child are doing fine,” said Mary Kom’s gynaecologist Dr N Purnima.
“I’m happy because he is a baby boy,” said Onler.
“I cannot say whether he will be a boxer or an educationist. I want to make him a god-fearing person who will look after his family and people”, he added.
Asked whether Mary, who is presently superintendent of police (sports) with the Manipur police will continue her boxing career, he said, “It depends on her health.”
