The area around the Eden Gardens was choc-a-bloc this morning with ticket seekers as well as those who had come in hope of catching a fleeting glimpse of their cricket heroes.

A thick security ring was thrown around the stadium in view of the Australian team arriving for scheduled practice session in the morning.

Mounted police personnel, commandos, armed policemen and those in plainclothes deployed in large numbers had a trying time in holding back the over-enthusiastic crowd which swelled to several thousands as the day wore on.

"We will surely get a full house of around one lakh now," said an upbeat Cricket Association of Bengal official.

All affiliate clubs of the CAB have drawn their full quota of tickets, while the government has sold five thousand tickets through lottery.
