Other political parties support SP bandh

VARIOUS ORGANISATIONS, in Allahabad, have supported the bandh call given by opposition parties in protest against hike in petrol and diesel prices. An emergency meeting of Uttar Pradesh Udyog Vyapar Mandal, Allahabad branch, was held at Khoya Mandi under the presidentship of district chief Ramesh Kesarwani. The meeting decided to support the bandh call and urged the traders to close their shops.

An emergency meeting of Uttar Pradesh Udyog Vyapar Mandal, Allahabad branch, was held at Khoya Mandi under the presidentship of district chief Ramesh Kesarwani. The meeting decided to support the bandh call and urged the traders to close their shops.

Members of Shiv Charan Lal Road Vyapar Mandal, at a meeting held at Kailash Market under the presidentship of Vijay Vaish, criticised the Congress-led UPA government for raising price of petrol and diesel and decided to support bandh.

The Jalkal Karmachari Sangh will stage rally on Tuesday at the Collectorate in support of the bandh call given by federations of central trade unions to protest against the hike in petrol and diesel prices.

The activists will also submit a memo, addressed to the Prime Minister, to the district magistrate, demanding withdrawal of price hike.

The Youth Congress activists, at a meeting under the presidentship of district unit chief Mukund Tewari, said that Mulayam Government should reduce the trade tax on petrol and diesel as has been done by Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and other Congress-ruled state governments.

The YC men will observe ‘Shame Day’ on Tuesday.

In Varanasi, too, the district administration made elaborate security arrangements to ward off any untoward incident during the bandh.Various political parties including the Left have supported the bandh.

Since the BJP has already protested against the price hike by blocking some roads and railway tracks on June 7, it will not participate in the bandh.
