Over 180 students examined for iodine deficiency in schools

Under the National Iodine Deficiency Disorder Control Programme, a team of health department conducted survey of as many as 180 students of Government Primary Schools in Baghian-Sherewal and Agwad Lopo, Jagraon, on Wednesday.

Under the National Iodine Deficiency Disorder Control Programme, a team of health department conducted survey of as many as 180 students of Government Primary Schools in Baghian-Sherewal and Agwad Lopo, Jagraon, on Wednesday.

The examination was conducted under the supervision of district epidemiologist Dr Anil Verma, medical officer Dr Jasleen Gill, and other team members. All 180 children in the age group of 6-12 years were examined for goiter, of which, total 18 students were randomly selected for giving urine sample.

As many as 36 salt samples were also collected by the health officials. It is worth mentioning here that in this survey, total 2,700 children in the age group of 6-12 years will be examined.
