Leander Paes and his Czech partner Martin Damm crashed out of the doubles event of $2,45,0000 ATP Masters Series in Toronto, Canada, losing to Paul Hanley of Australia and Kevin Ullyett of Zimbabwe in the semifinals.
In a battle lasting one hour 24 minutes on Saturday, the Indo-Czech pair fought hard before going down 6-3 3-6 4-10.
After breaking the Aussie-Zimbabewan pair's serve in the first set, seventh seeds Paes and Damm bagged it easily. But they squandered the 1-0 lead by conceding the second set 3-6.
In the decider, the third-seeded Hanley-Ullyett duo committed less mistakes and served better to thwart their rivals' chances of coming back to the match.
In the final, Hanley and Ullyett will meet top seeded American pair of Bob and Mike Bryan, who defeated fourth seeds Mark Knowles of Bahama and Daniel Nestor of Canada 6-3 6-7 (6) 10-5.
