India on Tuesday hoped that Pakistan will grant clemency to Sarabjit Singh facing death sentence for an alleged role in the 1990 Lahore blasts.

"Frankly, we would hope they (Pakistan government) would exercise clemency and he can come back home," Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon told reporters.
"It is their process. They have to take a decision," he said.
Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf had on April one deferred by a month the hanging of Sarabjit, who has been lodged in Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore for the last 18 years.
Pakistani daily 'Dawn' reported that his execution has been further deferred by three weeks but there was no official word on this from the President's office or the Foreign Ministry in Islamabad.
