The Pakistan army reportedly opened fire with small to heavy weapons on Indian forward posts to provide support to the intruders. The gunfire continued for more than one hour in which Lance Naik Amarjeet Singh was killed.

According to defence sources, the militants managed to escape towards Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, taking advantage of the high bushes and under the coverage of heavy firing by Pakistani troops on Indian soldiers.

In the past few weeks, alert and vigilant Indian troops in Jammu & Kashmir have foiled several nefarious designs of the ISI and militant groups to push militants to this side of the border. It was also noticed that the Pakistan army was providing logistic support to the infiltrators by providing coverage fire to these infiltrating groups.
