Pakistan again fires along LoC

A day before the visit of Arun Jaitley, defence minister to the State, Pakistan fired along line-of-control (LoC) in Mendhar sector of Poonch, on Friday morning. Livestocks have died and unconfirmed reports suggest some civilian might have also been injured.

A day before the visit of Arun Jaitley, defence minister to the State, Pakistan fired along line-of-control (LoC) in Mendhar sector of Poonch, on Friday morning. Livestocks have died and unconfirmed reports suggest some civilian might have also been injured.

Defence spokesperson said, Pakistan army fired along Tarkundi, Kanga Gali, Sawala Gali and Balakote in Mendhar sector. Pakistan troops fired mortar shells also. Three buffaloes died in firing in Langate village in Balakote area.

A jawan had died in a suspected improvised-explosive-device explosion along the LoC in Tarkundi sector last evening. In two separate IED explosions on the same spot, a major and eight jawans were injured.

Chief minister Omar Abdullah, tweeted about loss of live stocks with some mortar shells landing in civilian areas. Defence minister Arun Jaitley is visiting the state to review security situation.

Till filling of report firing was still going on. “Two ambulances along with doctors have been rushed to border areas of Balakote,” said Dr Parvez Khan, block medical officer, Mendhar.
