Pakistan closely watching Afzal Guru's issue

Pakistan says that it was watching "closely" the developments related to Afzal Guru's death sentence.

Pakistan said on Thursday that it was watching "closely" the developments related to Afzal Guru, facing execution for his role in the attack on Indian Parliament.

"We are watching the situation closely. We understand that there is a clemency appeal by the family of Mohammad Afzal. We, therefore, would not like to comment on this matter at this stage," Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesman Tasnim Aslam said in a release.

The former Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) member's family has sought clemency from President APJ Abdul Kalam.
