The Pakistan Rangers, counterpart of Border Security Force has confirmed participation in the talks between the two forces, sources said. “We received confirmation from Pakistan rangers on Monday,” said a home ministry source requesting anonymity.

The proposal for talks between the chiefs of BSF and Pakistan rangers was mooted when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif had met Russia’s Ufa city in July.

But, sources said, after the cancellation of National Security Advisor-level talks, it was not clear whether Pakistan would agree to the BSF-Pak Rangers talk as well but on Monday, Pakistan confirmed the participation.

India is likely to raise the cross-border firing from Pakistan, repeated infiltration bids from across the border and construction of permanent structures by Pakistan on the other side border.
