Police in Scotland is investigating a Pakistani law lecturer over allegations that he racially abused students. Naveed Kayani, 38, teaching at Bell College in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, is alleged to have called female students "white bitches".
Kayani, who drives to college in different cars including a top- of-the-range Jaguar and BMW with personalised number plates B5ONK and KIANY, could face charges of racially motivated breach of peace.
Students of the college have given their statements to the police. They claim that after September 11, Kayani told his students, "Now the Americans know how we feel." They say he uses his classes as a "soap box" to lecture them on his extremist Muslim beliefs. When asked, a police spokeswoman revealed: "A 38-year-old member of staff is the subject of an investigation over racially aggravated breach of the peace."
Three mature students in their second year of a BA in legal studies, lodged complaints against Kayani. It is alleged that family law expert Kayani has exaggerated his credentials. He has reportedly given a non-existent address to college officials and reportedly claimed he was once a serving police officer.
Kayani also allegedly boasted of risking his life and limb in the uniform. He described how he solved murders and was slashed trying to arrest a thug. But according to police sources Kayani never completed his police probationary period.
A police source has been quoted saying Kayani is an "arrogant womaniser" who had an attitude problem. A student, who did not want to be named, told The Daily Record: "He has a dislike of women unless they are young and pretty. He once told his students that he punched a white woman in the line of duty because she spat on him when he was a police officer.
"He also said that white women get life far too easy and they should know their place in society." These comments obviously offended the majority of his class and complaints were made. He also talked about his time in the force as if he was a super action hero and said he was forced to quit because of a back injury. He said he applied for an accelerated promotion at Tayside Police but didn't get in because they were all racists.
"The racist comments to female students came after students made complaints about his conduct. He was angry and called them white bitches in an outburst.
"He regularly talked about September 11 and said that now the Americans know how it feels to be bombed.
"He also told sick jokes about Indians getting killed. Some of the things he teaches in the classroom are laughable. He told us that Scotland was not part of the United Nations and that human rights don't apply in Scottish family law."
