The Palam Vihar Market Association has joined hands with the management of a nearby temple and a residents' body to protest the opening of a wine shop at Vyapar Kendra.

The proposed liquor vend is situated near a newly-built Mother's Pride playschool and the Red Cross Society School. The temple is located in between the two schools.

The administration, however, seems to be unfazed with the opposition. HS Sharma, deputy excise and taxation commissioner, said: "The liquor vend is far from the temple. Since it is a business centre and under the market area, it is authorised to have a liquor vend."
