In a surprise move, Jagrutiben Pandya, widow of slain BJP leader and former state Home Minister Haren Pandya, on Monday welcomed Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani with flowers at a party workers' meet in Gandhinagar.
Jagrutiben presented flowers to Advani before the party meeting which was attended, besides Advani, by BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Ministers Keshubhai Patel and Suresh Mehta.
While addressing the party workers, Advani specially thanked Jagrutiben for her presence at the meeting and recalled how Haren Pandya had worked for BJP victory during the Vidhan Sabha elections.
Incidentally, terming Advani as an "outsider" in the state, father of the slain BJP leader Vithalbhai Panduya has announced to contest the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat as an independent candidate to get justice for his son's death.
