Childline has requested the family to produce official documents to prove the girl is their daughter. However, the family has not turned up with the documents.

Instead, they have been repeatedly calling up the officials and threatening to commit suicide if their child is not returned.

“We got a call from a family on Tuesday. We immediately asked them to come to our office with proof. But they did not turn up. Now we are not sure whether she is their daughter,” said Satyaprakash, spokesperson, Childline, a government programme under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme.

The baby girl had burn marks on her body when she was found on Monday. But the 'family' is claiming they are insect bites. “We have conducted examinations and found they are burn marks and not insect bites,” he said. The one-and-a-half-year-old girl is at present at a private-run shelter home in Noida.
