Player burn-out not an issue: ICC

ICC Chief Executive Malcolm Speed feels the volume of cricket being played is just right and the concerns raised by players are exaggerated. Special: How much cricket is too much cricket?

International Cricket Council on Friday said it did not agree with players' complaints about burn-out at present but will launch a research to find out if too many matches were being played now in comparison to previous years.

"We will have a research project to look into it to see how current volume of cricket was as compared with the volume of cricket in the previous years," ICC Chief Executive Malcolm Speed said after the ICC's Business Forum meeting at Lord's.

"We are behind some of the concerns expressed by players but at this stage we do not agree with them," he said.

Speed also said the world governing body had cordial relationship with the players' association and they consulted each other on a number of issues.

"On a number of issues ICC will consult FICA and they have respectful dialogue," he said.
