Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the ‘Arogya Dham Ashram’ in Bithoor, Yadav indicated that the party’s protest against the phone-tapping issue would be taken up at the national level.

He said after the January 29 Mahasammelan, the party would launch ‘cycle-yatras’ to expose enemies of the Samajwadi Party.

“I’m already going to the masses to tell how anti-SP forces became united to ruin our principles and policies. Amar Singh and me are the biggest obstacles... so they have weaved a plot to eliminate us,” the CM said. Although, he maintained, “it will not be an easy task as the people know about the forces working against us.”

The CM said even the PILs filed against him and his family members were part of an Opposition plot. “ The number of PILs filed against me as a CM will go down in history as a record. No other CM has ever encountered such tactics. They failed earlier, they will fail this time as well,” he argued.

He said all ventures of “his enemies” reflected their mental bankruptcy as the Samajwadi Party had captured all those zila panchayats where dharnas and nayay yatras were organised over the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai.

He said the law and order situation was better than it was earlier and the Opposition could not raise a finger at his government on the basis of a single murder.

He said his government was committed to tackle criminals and check their
entry into politics. “ We went ahead with student union polls so that good elements made a foray in politics,” he said. Taking potshots at the Opposition, he said the SP was ready to give a befitting reply to its ‘enemies’.

On the Supreme Court’s notice regarding his property, the chief minister said that he would honour the court’s orders.
