Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said on Wednesday that Dr Manmohan Singh had reviewed the entire gamut of issues concerning security, development and welfare of the people with him during his two-day visit, which ended on Tuesday, to his home constituency.

Gogoi told reporters that to tackle the infiltration from across Bangladesh and strengthen the security measures, two India Reserve Battalions (IRBs) would be raised and deployed for riverine policing.

The Centre would help to train them and also provide specialised equipment, he said, adding the BSF would also provide fixed Border Out Posts (BOPs) in the riverine areas to strengthen patrolling there.

The chief minister said, besides the state government is taking all steps required under the law for detection and deportation of foreigners.

The prime minister was requested to take up the matter of deportation with the Bangladesh government, he said.
