Poisonous gas claims three lives

THREE YOUTHS died after they inhaled toxic gas from a dry well in Puraini village, under Karchhana police station, on Monday afternoon. A village youth entered the well to retrieve a tumbler of his which had fallen into it a few days ago.He fell unconscious inside the well. Two of his friends suffered the same fate.

Meanwhile, the fourth friend Ghanshyam also mustered the courage to save three of his friends, but he came back mid-way after experiencing shortness of breath. Within no time, a large crowd gathered outside the well. Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot from the city, but could not do anything due to lack of proper equipment.

Sources said, a special fire brigade team with masks, was on its way to the village to carry out rescue operation. Sub-divisional magistrate, Karchhana, and some police officers, including the SP of the area, had also reached the spot . However, the bodies were not taken out of the well when reports were last received.
