Police arrest 2 of Pandey?s killers
THE GHURPUR police has finally owned up having arrested two of the alleged miscreants who killed trade union leader Amrendra Pandey near the Triveni Sheet Glass factory gate. Police identified them as Bhaskar Yadav, a resident of Bongwa under Ghurpur police station and Avnish Yadav a resident of Iradatganj. Police said, the arrest came while the two accused were about to board a train near Khutangia drain. Two .315 countrymade katta and four cartridges were recovered from their possession.

It may be mentioned that several thousand employees of different organizations, including government and semi-government, under the State and the Central government had demonstrated at the Collectorate on Tuesday in protest against the non-arrest of the MD of Triveni Sheet Glass Works, Ghurpur, who too has an alleged role in the murder of the trade union leader. Besides demanding a compensation for the family of the deceased the employees have put forth their demand of a CBI inquiry in this incident.
On their pressure the DIG range Akhilesh Mehrotra has also shifted the investigation in this case from the hands of Ghurpur police to Daraganj police.
The agitating employees also handed over a memorandum to the DM Amrit Abhijat yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Kydganj police arrested four alleged burglars and recovered from them a hand saw and a bunch of keys, which they had been allegedly using to commit burglaries and thefts. However, police could not give any evidence of theft or burglary committed by them. They were reportedly booked for carrying the above items.
